Hosts + local.list of PIHOLE?

#1

Can anyone tell me how my configuration would be correct?

My fixed IP address on my PC is
192. 168. 178. 21

Does it have to look like this?
/etc/pihole/local. list

      1. 21 flashgordon
      1. 21 pi. hole

and in /etc/hosts?
127. 0. 0. 1 localhost
127. 0. 1. 1 flashgordon

      1. 1 fritz. box (router)
      1. 21 flashgordon
      1. 21 pi. hole
      1. 2 dnscrypt1
      1. 3 dnscrypt2

Are these settings set correctly?
/etc/pihole/setupVars. conf:

IPV4_ADDRESS=192. 168. 178. 21/24

You’re telling your hosts file that both could appear as that IP which will mess with your stats quite heavily iirc.

Depending on which BLOCKINGMOIDE you are using this could be a very minor issue or will block access to the blockiong page.

Why do you need a host name attached to 127.0.1.1?

#15

This entry 127.0.1.1 was already there when I installed my operating system.
Can I remove 127.0.1.1 in hosts?

I don’t understand what you mean right now.

Shall I
192. 168. 178. 21 flashgordon
192. 168. 178. 21 pi.hole

in hosts or take them out?

#16

From what we can see there should not be any issues(i stand corrected on my post above). Is there something that is working that shouldn’t be or vvice versa right now?

I installed FTLDNS, same error:

I put in SetupVars.conf: IPV4_ADDRESS=192.168.178.21/24 = Failed to resolve commandercialisgenerique.net via Pi-hole (192.168.178.21)

When I put in SetupVars.conf: IPV4_ADDRESS=0.0.0.0 = no error to resolve

What can I do?
I can log into Pihole Dashboard, but I cant save no settings in pihole via dashboard.

192.168.178.0/24 dev enp4s0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.178.21 metric 100

I don’t know what this address is: 169.254.0.0/16 dev
I have VirtualBox installed, maybe for it?

nslookup 192.168.178.21 (pihole address)
** server can’t find 21.178.168.192.in-addr.arpa: NXDOMAIN

#21

Now I can login with password into my pihole @ dashboard.

Now it shows up my network device and pihole address.

Are these settings correct?

What about with: "
Use Conditional Forwarding
IP of your router Local domain name"?

Must I put my Router IP in IP of your Router? 192.168.178.1? or leave it blank?

I don’t know if I had a local domain name.

#22

nslookup pi.hole
Server: 127.0.0.1
Address: 127.0.0.1#53

** server can’t find pi.hole: NXDOMAIN

strange things

Let’s try not to complicate things and keep this all in one thread. Closing this one and you can continue at My Pihole can’t resolv anymore and blocking is offline
