Wrong local hostnames

If you are Experiencing issues with a Pi-hole install that has non-standard elements

Mostly Standard Install. I have two ethernet ports on different subnets. One wired and one wireless. See image in first post:
https://discourse.pi-hole.net/t/dual-subnet-network-wired-wireless/46961

Expected Behaviour:

Hostname is incorrect in Query Log. I believe the correct hostname is MM3.localdoamin.

Actual Behaviour:

Shows up as an old device that now has the same IP address.
In Query Log the hostname shows up as YN1-US-*******.localdomain.

Debug Token:

https://tricorder.pi-hole.net/aFk3Qeqb/

On the pihole box I cannot ping or nslookup the YN1-US-*******.localdomain. On a desktop computer I cannot ping or nslookup the YN1-US-*******.localdomain

Local DNS Records is empty (no entries)
Local CNAME Records is empty (no entries)

I tried:

  • Rebooting the pi
  • Flushing the Network Table
  • Restarting DNS resolver
  •-ing

No joy
:slightly_frowning_face:

EDIT:
I do not use IPv6

I should update the title to hostnames (plural). I'm finding more & more of the wrong local hostnames in the query log.

What causes hostnames to appear incorrect? And how do I clear out?

Thank you!

It appears most all of the hostnames are incorrect.

I ended up rebuilding the pihole box.
