hey i recently bought a raspberry pi 3b from a friend who helped me set up the micro sd at her house. she told me that i would need to change the ip address to a static one before connecting to it and should be a simple install. im looking to use it as a simple adblocker for the whole house. im on windows 10 up to date on it. ive got a linksys router as well.
when i set up a static address on my router and attempt to follow the instructions on this guide i only manage to disconnect all devices from the internet and leave the router giving a signal with no internet. i tried the first method to get that result. my router doesnt have the options for the second method to work, and ive tried the third method to manually set my desktop to go through the pi hole and i came to the same result. im not sure where im going wrong on this, but i know ive got to be missing something. im not as well versed in computers and technology as my friend is so she made it sound much easier than i find it to be.
i wish i could give the debug token but honestly could not get a command prompt up for the pi itself so im sorry for that. i just feel very lost with this whole process
