pihole not working even after dns configuration

Expected Behaviour:

pihole blocking ads

Actual Behaviour:

no ads appear to be blocked even with the most common advertisers.

I have been trying to get this to work for the last couple of hours and even following the issues on other topics I have been unsuccessful. I have configured my network DNS on my router to point to the pihole ip but that hasn't worked. So i have configured both a mobile device and a desktop windows PC to use the pihole ip as the preferred DNS and I'm still getting ads on sites like cnn. Please help me out here.

When configuring the Win PC to use Pi-hole, could you post full output for below three in a CMD prompt on that Windows box ?

nslookup pi.hole

netsh interface ipv4 show dnsservers

netsh interface ipv6 show dnsservers

Also, can you post make/model of the router pls ?
And could you post screenshots for all DHCP and DNS settings on the router ?
