Hi,
... is there any chance to install Pi-Hole on a FreeNAS-(FreeBSD-)Server?

Here's a user that has installed it on FreeNAS
Hi all, thanks for such a great product!
I currently have my router set to send all DNS traffic to my Pi-Hole (a RPi3), and everything is working wonderfully. I'd like to get a sense for how to allow one machine in my internal network to bypass the Pi3 and go directly to the upstream DNS servers, without clogging the logs.
Would iptables be the place to start? The machine handles automated content searches, and isn't a machine that does any 'browsing,' so I don't have a need for ad-blocking.

Nope! If you read above, I said my pihole is on a rpi3. We got to talking about FreeNAS due to my need to edit resolv.conf files, with the thought of having services on my FreeNAS circumvent my rpi3 pihole.
My apologies for the misunderstanding.
Not a problem at all! Just didn't want the OP thinking it was that simple.
My recommendation to the OP would be to spin up a Debian VM in a jail, or wait for FreeNAS 10 (and docker implementation: Docker Hub )
Okay, i'll waiting for FreeNAS 10 ....
Thans for response

I've created a feature request for FreeBSD compatibility. Please upvote if you would like to see this functionality:
I run freeBSD in my environment and would love to be able to run Pi-Hole on those systems. Additionally as freeBSD is used for many NAS devices, Firewalls (PfSense), and other network gear, I think tit would be a natural addition to the potential install base. Having Pi-Hole as an available package for a PfSense Firewall would bring native Pi-Hole functionality to many organizations which utilize that technology.
I have done some preliminary research on the topic to assist in this endeavor:
