Newbie install queries

I'm a pihole newbie trying to set it up on a pi zero W with Buster lite and having problems like this:

My questions are:

The instructions at Installation - Pi-hole documentation seem contradictory. Should I sudo the bash install or not?

Is there an installation log kept somewhere for submitting diagnostics?

You need sudo if you call the installer as non-root user. If you logged in as root or used su to open a root subshell, you don't need to (but still can) use sudo. The installer requires root permissions for APT installs and other tasks.

You can run the installer with or without sudo on the command line. You will be prompted for the sudo credentials when they are needed.

Thanks both. Will try it with sudo again, but using 'tee' to generate a log.
