How do I use dnsmasq to have the pihole bypass a device?

My pihole is my DHCP server. I know it can be done, I just dont know how to properly do it and format everything correctly. From what I understand, you create a rule and specify an alternate DNS you want to use for the device (which is not the piholes IP) and then it just skips the pihole. I've searched this website and it looks like there are several ways to do it but I dont know the "best" way. I have also seen this posted as an example here but I cant make heads or tails of it. Thanks for any help.

Note that the upcoming Pi-hole v5.0 will allow you to configure clients in any imaginable way, the documentation is already mentioning this:

Stay tuned.
