Are there benefits to use pihole for your servers?

I have setup my pihole so that it is the default DNS server for all hosts in my homelab which includes a few VM's that run various services. Someone more experienced than myself pointed out that this is not necessary and I think I agree with him.
I just wanted to post this to see if there are any other opinions on the subject.
Thank you very much

My two cents: I have all devices/hosts use pi-hole. It is my network's DHCP and DNS server. This gives me some sense of the traffic they have, at least for name resolutions, by the logging functionality of pi-hole. It can provide a limited security benefit in denying name look up for domains that may be unsavory, depending on block lists installed. It also provides in-network name lookup caching...so potentially saving out of network calls for lookup. YMMV though.
