Running Pihole on Unraid container with my lan pointed towards it for DNS from Ubiquiti UDM Pro. All that works fine but no matter what I whitelist I can't get shorten url's from a discord I'm a part of to work. They are from a place called mavely.app.link. I have added it from queries and added the domain. I link should go to the Adidas website which is not blocked. Another goes to a Woot listing which is not blocked but links will not work going through Pihole.
Examples of link https://mavely.app.link/e/pvsJhHAGtTb
mavely.app.link is not a shortlink service - it's an affiliate marketing link, where Mavely App is monetising on the links while holding out out the prospect to share those profits with the linking party.
Accessing mavely.app.link in a browser triggers
net::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID
This indicates a certificate error, unrelated to DNS, which may contribute to your observation. Certificate errors can only occur after successful DNS resolution.
In addition, the page that briefly flickers shows 'The link you clicked is malformed. Contact the editor of the originating page' before some javascript action immediately closes the page.
Since you seem to have a contractual relationship with this company, you should consider to approach their customer service for support.
When I navigate to mavely.app.link it takes me to their join page to join Mavely. I don't have a contract obligation to Mavely, someone else is posting the links. All Mavely does from what I understand is provide affiliate links for people using it so they can get a commission.
The link if unshortened, goes to Adidas website for a shoe. Some of the mavely links work so not sure what is going on there. On my end it shows this when trying the link:
When you click this link, your browser is attempting to load multiple domains. The output below provided by AdamOne Assist running on a Chrome browser with no ad-blockers enabled:
I got it figured out. Thanks for the help. Had a competing ad blocker on unifi side making me going crazy. Was unblocking pihole side but forgot I had it on still on unifi controller side.
