What is the story around the vars in pihole v5?

The issue I am facing:
Within pihole v5 I had a var the in pihole-FTL.conf called "AAAA_QUERY_ANALYSIS=no"
This stops pihole processing of AAAA records - including IPv4 based AAAA-lookups.
Some of these are in setupVars.conf - some in pihole-FTL.conf.

What is the idea around these vars?
And in particular the vars in setupVars.conf?
Because this file is still mentioned in pihole.toml?

Details about my system:
Not considered relevant at this time.

What I have changed since installing Pi-hole:
Upgraded from v5 to v6 - added vlans in dnsmasq configs.

Anyone an idea?

With warm regards - Will

Is this a question about why v5 used setupVars.conf and pihole-FTL.conf?
Or where those v5 values ended up in v6?

The latter - and one value in particular: AAAA_QUERY_ANALYSIS

In addition: why is the file setupVars.conf referenced in pihole.toml? Is it still used? And what for?

This is explained in the file:

  # The old config file of Pi-hole used before v6.0
  #
  # Possible values are:
  # <any Pi-hole setupVars file>
  setupVars = "/etc/pihole/setupVars.conf"

setupVars.conf is the file used by Pi-hole v5 and previous versions.
The file is needed and used only during the upgrade from v5 to v6.
