VPN for a pi-hole newbie

I am am i-hole newbie so apologies if my question is stupid :slight_smile:

I currently use a commercial VPN (Private Internet Access PIA) when I connect to my router via wi-fi at home, but if I add pi-hole setup to my router will it all take effect when I use my current VPN unless I make my own VPN on the same Raspberry Pi ?
