Unable to restore Teleporter in new PiHole install

Expected Behaviour:

Restoring my teleporter backup in my new PiHole should reload my blacklists/whitelists/etc.
Sorry, really bad at explaining! Let me know if more detail is required and I will try my best to provide.

Using raspberrypi 3 + DietPi

Actual Behaviour:

When restoring the Teleporter backup a new "about:blank" browser page opens and nothing happens. I am then unable to access the pihole admin portal and websites will be slow to load/sometimes unreachable.

Debug Token:

When you created the teleporter file, was this done on a browser that automatically processes files after downloading? If you are, the browser will change the file from the required .gz format.

The teleporter filename should look like this - device name, date and time.tar.gz

pi-hole-nanopi-teleporter_2021-01-30_16-30-50.tar.gz

Hello,

Thank you for the quick reply! The file format looks correct.

Can you post some screen shots of what you see on your screen? In this forum you can copy and paste images directly into replies.

Yes!

Seems like I am unable to paste images in reply so I will upload them.

So I load my teleporter backup, I leave everything checked

Then when I hit "Restore" it opens a new page and even if I wait a while it stays there and nothing happens

4 posts were split to a new topic: Verifying Teleporter data

Is this repeatable across different browsers?

I just tried in a fresh Chrome install and when I click on restore it opens up "http://192.168.0.190/admin/scripts/pi-hole/php/teleporter.php" and keeps loading.

I am starting to think that my backup might be too big and it is unable to process it? Or at least it might take a lot of time to because if I restore my backup but uncheck everything I get a page that says "Ok".

Enabled one by one for the restore and it is my Blacklist(Exact) that is taking a long time processing.

I had a similar issue but it was Local DNS Records. I had conflicts between DHCP reservations and DNS assignments which pihole couldn't resolve. IT just sat there doing nothing when restoring. Fixed the conflicts and all good.

I let it run overnight and it seem this was enough time to let it do its things! I got a Ok page when I looked in the morning. I think I'm all good now!
