unable to access GUI

-dietpi v9.12.1
-rpi 4 model B

Expected Behaviour:

with SSH access, I'm able to update pihole. Seems to be actively running.

Actual Behaviour:

Unable to load admin GUI on https://...ip../admin --> error "Unable to connect"
with pihole enable, I get a "Communication error. Is FTL running?" error...

I'm not sure how to fix this. I'd appreciate any help I can get... thank you!

If you are using a new fresh install of pihole... modify your url to add the ":8080" port at the end of the ip.

And if that doesn't work, there may be something else listening on that port. It seems that pi-hole is a bit shy about admitting to the fact that it can't start the web interface.
