Ubuntu 22.04. Unable to get Pihole to stop blocking

I'm a tech newb. I'm running Ubuntu 22.04 with Gnome and Pihole. The 'Disable Blocking' feature has never worked. I don't have a router. Well, if I do have a router I don't know where it is. I get all my internet from an Android phone that I use as a wifi hotspot. The phone gets internet data from the nearby 4G/5G cell tower. I have the Android phone and my laptop; nothing else, no home network. Pihole blocks fine, but I want to be able to turn it off sometimes.

I tried to solve the issue here Ubuntu 22.04. Disable pihole feature not working. How to fix? but the helpers stopped replying. Please read this thread first and let me know if there's some way to get 'Disable Blocking' working.

Please note I'm not a tech person and I'm a newbie. I have no idea what or where a pihole config file is. I'm happy to learn if it's explained simply. And I know less than zero about DNS routing, DHCP, etc.

Please upload a debug log and post just the token URL that is generated after the log is uploaded by running the following command from the Pi-hole host terminal:

pihole -d

or do it through the Web interface:

Tools > Generate Debug Log
