Test Advertisement To Ensure Functionality

I have a somewhat strange network setup due to Comcast douche baggery as of recent. Is there an advertisement that will fire every time activated so I can begin testing pi-hole on my Banana Pi setup?

To clarify: I need a site that will run an advertisement each time accessed. I thought of installing pi-hole when YouTube played a 30 second advertisement to watch an 8 second video. Unfortunately youtube doesn't hit you with an ad reliably.

osxdaily.com will hit you with a barrage of advertisements that will let you know instantly if things are being blocked or not.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I ventured to the site and tested it with Ad block on and off. I noticed that hte side and top banners diappeared with Ad block on. Can I expect the same results with Pi Hole?

If so thanks for the suggestion and I will work on an install tomorrow!

Yes the same result should occur with the Pi-hole, there may be a few advertisements that come through because they are self-sourced on the domain, but the bulk of the ads should be gone.

Thanks! You are the man. Will get an install up and running 1st thing tomorrow.

Take a look at privoxy

The thing i dislike about privoxy is that you need to edit each client configuration, using transparent mode does not filter all ads especially https.

My router has this built in but pi hole does a way better job.

In corp env. Start serving wpad.dat or proxy.pac
All you need to do is create a gpo that sets internet explorer: automaticly detect settings.

@home.
Abuse pihole;s dnsmasq to create a wpad dns and start serving wpad.dat or proxy.pac.

That way proxy settings are almost automatic.
and you can edit wpad.dat to create exclusions.
