I was trying to update pihole by using pihole -up but the first message shows:

Error: Unable to update package cache. Please try "sudo apt update"
When I used "sudo apt update" this was the output
pihole@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get update

but still it wont update

The output you have shown is not complete. You should see either a message that there are packages to update or that all packages are up to date. In any case you should then be at another pihole@raspberrypi:~
prompt.
Are you seeing any of that?

So idk what went wrong on the side of trying to update the pihole

have u try sudo pihole -up?
What version are you running? Version 5 or Version 6?

funny i now tried sudo pihole -up

in v6 u have to execute with 'sudo'. Glad it works for u.
