Suddenly no queries anymore

Hello,
got my pi zero w2 with pi-hole a couple of months ago, updated /upgraded everything every other week. all was ok, until a few days ago. I did not upgrade or change anything, it just stopped working correctly.
I read and tried almost everything the last few days, but nothing helped.

Expected Behaviour:
opening pi-hole web dashboard ,a few hundred maybe thousand queries were usually shown in 24 hours.

pi zero W 2 (always on) fixed DNS server address: 192.168.1.9

Actual Behaviour:
the last few days opening the web interface, only a handful (around 20) queries are shown.
it seems all are from pi-hole itself. restarting pi-hole shows 500+ queries, but that's it, even after 24 hours.

first I thought the tv (sony smart tv) broke, because most queries are from the tv, but no....

Your debug log shows your router is using itself as DNS server.

      router: 192.168.1.1
      dns-server: 192.168.1.1
      dns-server: 192.168.1.1
      domain-name: "home"

Change the DNS servers on the router (on the DHCP / LAN section) to 192.168.1.9.

so it seems my isp upgraded the firmware of my router a few days ago (a Speedport plus)
although the dns server address is still in the routers settings, it does not work.... (tried everything)

so i disabled DHCP in the router and enabled it in pi-hole.
it seems to work. any pros/cons with this approach?
