I have just fixed the issue. I have been changing the ip address range under # Ensure privacy of local IP ranges on the /etc/unbound/unbound.conf.d/pi-hole.conf to match with my local ip range i.e. 192.168.1.0/32 and 10.9.0.0/32 and 10.8.0.0/32 for my vpn.
this time i just didn't make this change and it seems to work fine.
Can someone shed some light on this please? My understanding was to use your local ip range in there to ensure privacy but when i make this change obviously the github and some of the other websites cannot be resolved. What is the correct ip address range that should go in there? or should i leave it to default but the default does not cover my internal ip range?
Secondly, when under DNS settings on the pihole webpage I had 127.0.0.1#5353 on custom IPV4. Will this cover the IPV6 address as well? as I am not using any other providers I dont want to be served with just IPV4 addresses. I have it enabled on the /etc/unbound/unbound.conf.d/pi-hole.conf file and my network/fibre provider supports IPV6.
