As in the my first topic Redirect cast2tv.net to local server , i can’t resolve, because the priority of google DNS, same times, win!
I need to redirect this “special domain” to a local IP, but it needs to be reliable since the primary DNS on the network is Pi-Hole!
Can you help me with this issue? If anyone knows how to force it, please reply to my request for help. Thank you so much.
Regards,
Mauro
This is probably your issue... some requests are probably being answered by the other DNS server.
There is no real order for DNS servers. Primary/Secondary are only words used on the router interface, but when you set 2 different DNS servers, the router advertises both IPs to all devices. Then, each device will decide which server will be used. Most operating systems use both (alternating them, round robin, etc). As far as I know, almost no OS adheres strictly to the order list.
Thank you so much! It was a foolish mistake on my part...
I removed the secondary DNS from DHCP, relying solely on Pi-Hole, and it actually works!
I was influenced by the fact that, since it was a Google domain, it was "hidden" somewhere else
.
I hope I don't have to revisit this topic...
Best regards,
Mauro
