Recurring sudden jumps in DNS traffic

Expected Behaviour:

My DNS query count should stay at roughly the same level, so long as I’m not having a party where I host 20 people on my Wi-Fi. I have IoT devices, several computers, an iPhone and an iPad, all on a single subnet.

I run two Pi-holes: One on Linux Mint 12.3 (Prosecco, in my debug log), and another on a Raspberry Pi 4 (Moscato).

Actual Behaviour:

The Pi-holes keep roughly the same query count when I’m not actively using a device. But then, seemingly randomly, the query count increases by ~10X. The traffic is associated with DNS-related domains, as shown in the attached screenshot.

Restarting the Linux Mint-based Pi-hole machine does restore traffic to normal levels, but it eventually jumps again (I’ve been troubleshooting for two weeks).

Debug Token:

Inspired by a dnsmasq error message, I turned off DHCPv6 and it’s dropped back down (without a reboot).
