Recent update has cause connection to API issues. Also "Failed to Fork"

This is showing Debian "Jessie". This is a really old version.

You should try the Raspberry Pi Imager:

The Imager has some nice options to use. In the Advanced options, activate ssh, set your location and time zone, put in your WiFi credentials if you are connecting the Pi via wireless, and most importantly, set a user ID and password.

oh, oops. I just went auto.

Flash it again, this time setting the options.

all commands are failing again

Installing jessie via the rasberry pi tool yall suggested instead of balenaEtcher

What is the status of the equipment when you are running these commands?

The SD card is in the Pi, the Pi is powered up and you are either connected to the Pi via a ssh session or via a keyboard and monitor plugged into the Pi?

I have only used SSH. there is no way to use a monitor or keyboard with this thing

Why in the world are you installing Jessie (and where did you even find a copy)?

Jessie has not been supported by either Debian/Raspbian or Pi-hole in years.

The current Raspbian/Debian version is Bookworm.

Here's the progression of the OS versions.

Jessie > Stretch > Buster > Bullseye > Bookworm.

I got it from the guide I linked earlier

I cant find the buster files or bookworm files, only jessie

I don't think we can help you any further installing an OS. You should visit the forums for your hardware and see what OS's run on that device. Then get that OS installed, and once it is installed you can install Pi-hole per our documentation.

Even if you do manage to install Jessie on that device, Pi-hole won't run on that OS.

All I can find is Jessie when I google it

I know, thats why I upgraded from Buster to Bullseye like a year or so ago then 2 months ago a pihole update came in and made it where it said the connection to API issue

I followed this guide to do the update:
https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-upgrade-debian-10-to-debian-11/

My assumption, I guess, is download jessie then go to buster then to bullseye
