In my list of configured clients, I have some of the clients named in the comments section.
It would make things easier when reviewing the Query Log if those named showed up beside the IP column.

If you are talking about the Clients page from Group Management, then the comments are just comments.
If you want to name your clients, use the Settings > Local DNS Records page:
If you name your devices here, the names will be used on the Dashboard and Query Log page.
I don’t use dhcp. I have no devices listed under local dns.
This doesn't matter.
Pi-hole will use Local DNS records if they exist.
Well... Nothing will be listed there until you manually add them.
