Using rapsi3 pihole (latest version) for dhcp and dns
in my /etc/hosts file I have the following:
....
192.168.1.33 bbb.lab.local
192.168.1.34 ccc
.....
On a windows pc on the lan I cannot get nslookup to get an answer for ccc
I do get a proper answer for bbb.lab.local, 192.168.1.33 and 192.168.1.34
In the the rapsi itself nslookup works properly
Anyone any idea?

You mean you get 192.168.1.33
and 192.168.1.34
if you query bbb.lab.local
?
Since it is working on the Pi itself, it might be some weird Win problem. Let's wait what other users may be able to tell (I don't have Win devices available for testing).

I deleted dnsmasq and reinstalled it. Then I reinstalled pi-hole.
From a different computer I get answers for the following:
bbb
bbb.lab.local
192.168.1.33
192.168.1.34
but no answer for:
ccc

Does the Win machine somehow think that it is in .lab.local
?
On the windows machine, try ipconfig /all
and that should list any domain suffixes that the box thinks its a member of.
