Post-migration from Patreon to GitHub

Hello,

I recently stopped sponsoring pi-hole on Patreon and started using GitHub Sponsors to support this project. While on Patreon, I used to receive a exclusive/sponsors-only as well as release announcements to my email address (or notification in Patreon app). As a GitHub Sponsor, is there an equivalent notifications/communication from the project? (I happen to see a hot-fix announcement on reddit, but I didn't receive any notification; so, I was wondering if it was Patreon only perk.)

Thanks.

It's not intentionally an exclusive perk.

We didn't make any announcements to Patreon on the web interface update so you didn't miss anything there.

GitHub Sponsors does have an email announcement process and we need to remember to do that, it was just an oversight so I thank you for mentioning this to remind us that it's something we need to add to the process.

We also can enable a digest email for posts from Discourse where most of the announcements are also made (there is an application we use that posts our blogs posts on various platforms so we don't have to remember,) and we can enable that here on Discourse to let users know when things are posted. We had it disabled because we didn't want to seem as spamming our users but I think we may have been over-cautious with that belief.

@PromoFaux is there a plugin that we can add to allow cross-posting to GitHub Sponsors as well?

Follow Up:

I've sent an email notice to all GitHub Sponsors about the hotfix.

Thank you so much for prompt and detailed response.

That I'm aware of, no. Does it have a "Posts" type section, or is it just emails?

It's a notification section and you can pick the tiers that are sent, it's pretty much a duplicate of how Patreon works. Contacting your sponsors - GitHub Docs

Cool, a brief google says there is no cross-post plugin, but.. that doesn't mean it's not out there!

However, we do have categories of monthly donors only. We should make sure users changing support form patreon to github still have access to them.
