Pihole stops working randomly. Lose internet on network

The issue I am facing:

It seems at random I lose internet on my network. Restarting the Pi fixes the issue right away, restarting router, gateway etc does not fix issue. When I'm in the "no internet" state i notice my PCs LAN ip address is 169.254.152.112 which is not the standard 192.168.1.xxx via ipconfig Its happened to me twice since today already.

Details about my system:

ATT gateway in IP passthrough, with an Orbi router with 1 Satellite (mesh network), Pihole handles DNS and DHCP

What I have changed since installing Pi-hole:

Nothing. its dropped my internet more often in the past few days than before.

Did you set a static IP for your Pi?

Yes I set a static ip in the raspberry pi via the wireless network settings and in the DHCP settings in the pihole admin panel

I set a static IP on the raspberry pi and reserved the address in the DHCP settings. I also read somewhere that I had to set my routers DHCP on but to a limited range and have my router assign the ip address to the pihole. I tried this but it still dropped my internet just as frequently.

The only way i fixed this is by not using the Pihole as the DHCP server....
