If I google "shoes for sale" I still see an ad from (i.e. Nike) from googleadservices. When I click the ad, it will show me that the site can't be reach.
I checked the query log, and it is able to block it.
OS: Ubuntu 22.04

My pihole runs on a proxmox VM.
googleadservices still show up.
Seeing the ads from googleadservices within the search results is expected. These are loaded from a non-blocked domain. As you said: when you click on one of them you are referred to googleadservices.com which will be blocked by Pi-hole usually.
To get rid of these ads you should consider a browser based ad blocker like uBlock Origin in addition to Pi-hole.
