Pihole as DHCP server and LAN IP Reservation

(Hopefully) quick question on using pihole as my DHCP server.

Current configuration:

  • Router points DNS to the piHole's IP (10.0.0.30) and pihole is blocking network-wide
  • Router is providing DHCP & DHCP on pihole is off
  • My router reserving 10.0.0.30 for my pihole

If I turn DHCP off on my router and enable it on my pihole, will my router still be able to reserve the pihole's IP? Or is there another configuration I need to complete to ensure pihole has a static IP when I transition DHCP from the router to pihole?

Thanks in advance.

You can assign a static IP on the Pi OS. On Raspbian, for example, this is set in /etc/dhcpcd.conf.

Great. I'm pretty sure I have already completed this.

Glad to know when I transition to pihole's DHCP it won't be at risk of the server not reserving the IP or something like that.
