Pi Zero ethernet over usb directly to router?

Anyone know if its possible to do this?

I'm seeing guides for direct connect to windows (example here) but it would be slick to be able to do this on router USB as it would save power adapter/network port.

Netgear R700P on OpenWrt or Asus RT-AC68U on Merlin are possible routers (I gave the Asus a try and had a dead port new out of the box so I started return and ordered Netgear instead)

Ah there it is! Sorry about that. I thought I saw it/saved it but book marked those trying to run PiHole natively on router.
