Pi-hole shows empty network tab / no active clients

Hello everyone, I recently stumbled upon Pi-hole and wanted to give it a try. I installed it with the bash command on Github, after updating the OS with sudo apt update & upgrade just to be sure, and the rest of the installation is luckily self-explanatory.
I added some blocklists and set everything up but it doesn't seem to work right just yet.

Pi-hole v5.18.2 is installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running on Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm).
It appears to be blocking some ads.

Expected Behaviour:

For it to show the "x active clients" it claims to have when clicking on the text
To be able to select known clients from the dropdown list and name them.

Actual Behaviour:

When clicking on "x active clients" it brings me to the Network overview which is completely empty, not showing a single device altough the Pi is definitely being used by at least 2 devices.
Also when clicking on "Clients" on the left there is nothing to pick either, no known clients even though the home dashboard lower graph shows multiple clients and their activity.
The query log also shows that the Pi is actually working for the most part and allows or blocks certain actions for devices that even have a name in the "Client" column.

I've read through reddit and articles here and nothing of what I found seemed to be useful, neither pihole -r, pihole restartdns nor even actually rebooting the Raspberry Pi helped. Sadly I barely know how to work with linux systems so some of the workarounds that seem like they could work aren't any I was able to use.

EDIT

This was posted just a bit after my question and it is detailed enough for even someone like me to do it. It fixed the issue of not seeing any clients!
Now I only need to improve the adblocking.
