Pi-Hole no longer working with Asus AC88U

Hello,

I've used Pi-Hole for many years without any issues, however, after doing updates to both router (Asus AC88U) and a fresh install of Pi-Hole the two are not communicating in regards to DNS queries. To clarify:

  1. Asus AC88U with latest firmware (3.0.0.1.386_43129)
  2. Raspberry Pi with Raspberry Pi OS 32bit lite.
  3. Pi-Hole (Pi-hole v5.3.1 Web Interface v5.5 FTL v5.8.1)

Tests:

. If I set my DNS on my PC to the LAN IP of the Pi-Hole it works.
. If I change the WAN DNS Setting on the Asus router to the LAN IP of the Raspberry Pi it doesn't. Can't resolve domains. This has always worked previously.

I don't know if the issue is the Firmware on the router (might try downgrading) or the Pi-Hole is blocking the Router. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve?

Kindest regards,

Nick

Please upload a debug log and post just the token that is generated after the log is uploaded by running the following command from the Pi-hole host terminal:

pihole -d

or do it through the Web interface:

Tools > Generate Debug Log

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but on my ASUS router (Zenwifi Ax) I keep the WAN DNS on 'Auto' and change only the LAN DNS towards Pi-Hole IP.
