Pi-hole is blocking adds but some content is blacked as a result

Actual Behaviour:

I have an news app that I sometimes go to, I noticed that if I turn on Pi hole or use something like Adguard (I think) the same issue appear.

Usually when I play any video on the news app, an ad will pop up before the video, but when a DNS server is blocking the ads the video doesn't load.

  • Running Truenas
  • CPU core i7 10700
  • Using tailscale
  • On android

Expected Behavior:

I just will see the video without any ads, and if this is complacatied or impossible, I would like to allow ads only on this app.

Bottom line:

If you have a solution that can help me, I would love to hear about it.

Sometimes the ads and the video are on the same Server like YouTube for example so you need Client side software to filter them out.

Another option is that the ad needs to be loaded first in order to view the video after it and if it doesn't then you can't view the video either despite it being on a different Server than the ad is... :frowning:
