OK, final message for this thread. The OpenDNS filtering at the router level was interfering with the Pi-Hole install. I have successfully installed Pi-Hole at this point. Next step is to get OpenDNS working again and to have Pi-Hole doing the adblocking. Thanks, self.

Went into Netgear router and disabled the OpenDNS filtering. Pressed “apply,” and now Internet works again.

You should disable it because it will interfere with the overall network ad-blocking performance. And disable circle too if you use it.
