Pi-Hole > DHCP Assigned Static > When Dynamic release

Please follow the below template, it will help us to help you!

Hi I am new here

Expected Behaviour:

When assign a Static Dynamic lease from a Dynamic allocated IP I expected the Dynamic IP lease to be released. e.g. 192.168.1.120 Dynamic > Static IP assigned 192.168.1.4 then the Dynamic IP should no longer be seen

Actual Behaviour:

Dynamic assigned IP address remains under Dynamic after a Static IP has been assigned. Question is why or when will the Dynamic assigned IP go away?

Have you released the DHCP lease on the device that had the address set?

Hey Dan,
Only been able to do a few by power of and on, as several at devices I cannot log into, but even having done a ipconfig /release and /renew the "old dynamic IP is still there", can be I am doing something wrong...

Does the DHCP lease page on the admin interface show entries with the same MAC address in both the active and static sections?

Yes, but perhaps I have to wait until the lease time is up, I had set to 24 will change to less.

The leases are actually stored in a file, I think they can be removed and pihole-FTL restarted, but I don't remember offhand the file name or location. If this is still an issue after the lease lifetime is over we can dig some more and find the way to manually edit the leases.

Leases are stored in below file (checked just now):

sudo nano /etc/pihole/dhcp.leases

To restart pihole-FTL:

sudo service pihole-FTL restart
