If I understand correctly, you followed that guide and unbound doesn't work. I recommend following our guide and then you will have an unbound install that works properly.
Go to him for support, open an issue on his repo. You'll be helping everyone else that uses his our guide.

Unbound worked well until today's... yours update
I set cache to 0 in setvars.conf and now is working again.
We're Pi-hole, we're not unbound. Find the guide that you used for unbound and tell them their guide doesn't work anymore, we don't provide support for other people's guides.
