I have been trying to setup a pihole for a while now. I am starting to believe that the problem lies with the router I have, being a Spectrum model SAX1V1S, since it requires a secondary DNS when using custom DNS settings. Currently in the DNS settings I have the pihole’s IP as the primary DNS, and 8.8.8.8 as the secondary DNS (which I found is the best to use in this situation). I have even tried setting up the “clients” function in the Pihole so all the devices are pointed towards the pihole.
- Windows 10
- Rasberry Pi Zero W (i think, it might be a Zero 2 W)
- I used the basic install command found here: Installation - Pi-hole documentation
Actual Behaviour:
since I setup the pihole, I have only received 12 queries. I used this handy video by WesOps to help set up the pihole: https://youtu.be/d_3h5n9mPdI?si=EFEytuJQRgS4-jQK In his video, when he sets the main DNS for his wifi, the queries come flooding in. When I set the DNS on my router, I get none. I would really appreciate the help anyone can give me! (Also, buying a new router is sadly not an option.)
