No internet access when connecting to wifi - need to disconnect and reconnect

Strange one this.
I leave home, and so not on local network.

When I return and reconnect to home WiFi I have no internet access with a 'could not resolve dns' error

I disconnect from the WiFi, reconnect and I have access again?

This is using an android device on 7.0

Pihole is fully updated

Are you using the router for DHCP? Try checking what DNS servers you get when you return home (use an app like Network Info II to see the servers).

I'm using pihole as dhcp.
I'll check network info next time I leave and return.

Never thought to do that!

So, yesterday went out, and came in and no internet access.

Checked what DNS server my device was using and it was reported as my pihole

Left the phone for some time, over 1 hour, closer to 2 really, to see if it was a caching issue.
Still no internet access

Disconnected from Wi-Fi, and reconnected and I have the internet.

Rechecked the network info and DNS server is still showing as the Pihole.
In fact all the reported information was the same.

Just tested again and same behaviour

Ran a debug before disconnect and reconnect

You have IPv6 enabled, but don't have an IPv6 internet connection. Try running pihole -r to reconfigure with only IPv4. Also make sure that you turn off IPv6 DHCP in the settings. I'm not sure if that would cause your problem, but it might help to fix it.
I do see successful DNS queries in the log snippet, but I don't know if they're coming from your device.
