Majority of queries coming from routers IP address

Just setup pihole on a rasberry pi zero 2 w a few days ago. So far has been working well other then yesterday it lost connection so I unplugged it and plugged it back in and started working again...

My router is an adtran 834-5. The way I have it setup is added a custom DNS on network-routing-dns menu on the router. I cant find any place to change the primary DNS on this router. Also have a static IP assigned to the pihole and that is working fine.

On my pihole dashboard its working and blocking a ton of stuff. Running steven blacks and hagezi pro right now. (not sure if they overlap too much) I can see all my connected devices there and the vast majority of blocked queries are coming from my routers ip address. Some come from the home desktop and the smartphones connected to the network. So it appears to me that I don't have it setup properly? its still blocking the queries but there originating from my router.

Any advice how to set this up better? Maybe I need a different router that is more customizable or has anyone run this on an adtran router? Couldn't find anything relevant on the web.

Actual Behaviour:

Blocking domains but source is router IP

Debug Token:

Replace this text with the debug token provided from running pihole -d

You risk a high chance of data on your microSDXC card getting corrupted that way !!

Usually queries from the Router means you have entered the IP Address of your Pi-Hole in the WAN Settings instead of the LAN Settings.

Having your own Router which you have full access to is ofcourse always the best option, but maybe you don’t need it in this case.
Upload some screenshots of your settings so we can check what you have got so far ?

Yes I thought it was a bad idea to unplug but did it anyway. Good to know. I did lose ability to ssh into it from my desktop (current version Ubuntu) and it showed up in my router as not connected so not sure what happened to it. Here are 2 screenshots of the 2 settings I have changed on this router. Again there is no option at least that I can find for a primary DNS. I dont believe it is only WAN setting but could be wrong of course. ip adress is piholes in those settings.

I think you have configured the Router’s own DNS Queries to be resolved by your Pi-Hole.

What happens if you remove the IP Address of your Pi-Hole again ?

I can’t clearly see which page is which by the way and there is no need to hide LAN IPv4 addresses while someone is trying to help you

Try the Lan Network
