After upgrading to Windows 11 my desktop PC randomly loses network connection for liek 5-1p seconds then it restores itself automatically. When disconnected it says something about dhcp issue.
Details about my system:
Windwos 11
pihole on rpi3 on ubuntu server
What I have changed since installing Pi-hole:
I have done tons of troubleshooting on the windows side with new drivers etc. nothing helps. the machine has 2 lan ports, 1 realtek, 1 intel. both have the same issue. This leads me to believe it is related to whatever Windows 11 changes in regards to networkong on the software side not being compatible with pihole? I also tried a static IP on windows, same issue.
How can I troubelshoot this and exclude pihole as a cause?
I’ve been running Windows 11 for a years, and am on the insider channel. Never had any issues with DHCP, before using my router for DHCP, and after switching to using Pi-hole for DHCP.
Are you using Pi-hole for DNS and DHCP?
You could look at the network traffic, which should provide some insights. Other than that you should consider submitting a debug token for the Pi-hole developers to review.
Can you pinpoint me to where I can find meaningful logs in pihole side but also win 11 side? yeah as said my win 11 work laptop has no issue. it is something specifc to his desktop machine.
On Windows 11, you are most likely stuck with messing around in event viewer. That’s my best guess. I haven’t done that in a while.
Don’t know what tools you might use on the Linux side for troubleshooting DHCP issues. There are possibly some posts on this forum that might shed light on tools to try.
