Just set up my ad blocker and wow, what a difference!

Hey everyone!

So I finally took the plunge and set up an ad blocker at home, and honestly, it's been a game changer. I was getting so fed up with all the ads popping up everywhere while I was trying to stream shows or just scroll through my social feeds.

I remember the day I decided to do it. I was watching a video about how ads can really slow down your browsing speed. It made me think of that one time I was trying to watch a tutorial, and I ended up spending more time waiting for ads to skip than actually learning anything. Ugh, right?

Setting it up was surprisingly easy, too. I thought it was going to be this complicated process, but it turned out to be just a few clicks. Now, browsing the internet feels so much smoother. I didn’t realize how much the ads were bugging me until they were gone!

Oh, and my kids are loving it too. They can watch their cartoons without interruptions, which means I can finally enjoy my morning coffee in peace!

Has anyone else had a similar experience? What changes did you notice after blocking ads? I’m curious to hear your stories!

Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement. Cheers!

It was ages ago I realized two things with ad blocking. One was browser speed up and the second was reduction in data used from my ISP back when you got less that 500 GB / month.

The way this is written combined with the avatar picture smells like some weird sort of SPAM to me ?!

:bullseye:

Soon as I started reading it I too had the same thought. Not to mention you can’t block streaming ads for the most part anymore.

While the sentiment is one largely shared by those that use Pi-hole, I too, feel something is off about the writing style of the OP. But to what end? There’s no link. No attempt to send the reader somewhere else. It’s just ‘odd’.

Clearly some sort of slop bot.

The same username has posted similar slop on other subjects in recent days. Seems to be targeting the discourse platform.

O my I fell hard for that believing it to be true.
Now we have to scrutinize every new account for this slop.

Remember kids :

Female Name/Nickname = Ladyboy SPAMming you from Thailand !!!

The odd thing is that the email they supplied checks out and did not bounce so someone activated the account.

Registered on Jan 4th though so it's been baking for a bit.

Sounds like something I've seen many times before.
Register an account and after a while start spamming.

Yep! Not the first one indeed! :grimacing:
