I have tried editing /etc/pihole/setupVars.conf
I turned on google then changed 8.8.8.8 to another
But it did not work no traffic on the pihole.
I'm trying to setup a fault tolerant network of piholes
What did you try? It should be possible to set an arbitrary number of DNS servers using
PIHOLE_DNS_1=...
PIHOLE_DNS_2=...
PIHOLE_DNS_3=...
etc.
Yes have tried that but no traffic to another pihole.
dns-servers.conf I will try this file next.
Please upload a debug log and post just the token generated by
pihole -d
allowing to upload when prompted, or do it through the Web interface:
Tools > Generate Debug Log
The only way to do it is to do as @DL6ER described in /etc/pihole/setupVars.conf
Editing the other file you mentioned will not do anything...

I tried setupVars.conf but the web interface turns it off.
I have been running with the help of playonlinux DNS Benchmark to check the speed of things.

You can build a custom revolvers list to pick the ones that are closer to your connection on the net.
You'r running open resolvers and advertise them via twitter. I can also reach you admin interface.
As you know, Pi-hole does not support open resolvers. They are a threat to the whole DNS infrastructure of the internet.
Take them down!
