Is 47% blocked queries normal? And normal for constant calls home by unused services?

I'm wondering if my queries blocked percentage is normal. I only use the firebog.net "green and ticked" lists, automatically updated.

Also, I'm looking at my Top Blocked Domains and I can't believe how often stuff tries to call home. It's great it gets blocked but I imagine it would be better for my network if I could could stop them even attempting to connect.

Top Blocked Domains:

analytics.plex.tv	5586
device-metrics-us.amazon.com	5116
airlytics.airlock.twcmobile.weather.com	4137
self.events.data.microsoft.com	1288

Even the Top Permitted Domains seem high and in many cases unnecessary. I'm just looking at the query log and all of these top domains are connecting right now without any input from me. Lol but blocking any them is really going to raise that Percent Blocked number.

api.smartthings.com	1969
svcs.myharmony.com	1366
sonx.mediasearch.verizon.com	1324
api-global.netflix.com	852
d3p8zr0ffa9t17.cloudfront.net	671
nrdp.prod.ftl.netflix.com	639
push.prod.netflix.com	584

Anyway suggestions on cutting down all this network traffic? I'm guessing I should scour all these apps for permissions that are currently enabled allowing them to collect data? Although I normally out of that by default.

Thank you

That is normal for your network, clients and usage. Comparison to other users with different clients and browsing habit has little value.

Why do you believe this to be too high or unnecessary? Clients need to make DNS queries to reach endpoints. Your Smartthings hub, for example, made 82 requests per hour on average. That's not a whole lot. My hub made 1418 queries to that domain in the past 24 hours.

Edit:

Your Smartthings hub needs no input from you to do its job. You have it connected to your network and it is communicating back to a server to control some of your home devices.

You haven't seen a blocked ration like I have with 4 kids in the house and Android apps that frenzy every time one of their telemetry and tracking services fails to get a message back to the mother ship. I think my worst day was about 65% DNS requests blocked against 350k queries. I just live with the satisfaction knowing that I kept some data away from data harvesters.
