ipv6 not working (cant turn it on)

i tried setting up pi hol for ipv6 and in setup i enabled ipv6 but in setupVars.conf no ipv6 dns is shown pihole-r does not work either i use google as dns provider BTW can anyone help?

Availability of IPv6 (to be more concise: a public IPv6 prefix) will depend on both your router's and your ISP's capabilities. If one of them does not or cannot comply, you won't have IPv6 Internet access.

You'd have to consult your ISP and your router's manual to find out how to enable IPv6.

If your router can be configured to supply a local ULA prefix, you may able to be use it locally, i.e. within your network only.
If you actively want to learn about IPv6 before or without going all public, that would be a sensible approach. Other than that, there is no tangible benefit from running IPv6 for the average home user, especially if running it locally only.

hmm i do have ipv6 on my isp and i use a airport extreme as routerwith ipv6 stil does not show is there a special type of setting needed?

I cannot answer that, as I do not know your device - that's why I suggested to also consulting your router and/or ISP support.

For attracting users here that would, it may help to include device information in your topic's title.

ok are you able to tell me if my ipv6 setiing should be: link local only, tunnel, router or host?

I would have no idea.

For users familiar with your router, a screenshot may be helpful to provide sufficient context as to where you get those settings from.

Taking a look at your router's manual may be helpful, too.

ok thank you

Go to Airport Utility > Internet > Internet Options > Configure IPv6.
