With version 5 I was able to create and shortcut\bookmark on my iPhone home screen that used the Pihole logo automaticaly. Since the upgrade from http to https I had to create a new shortcut\bookmark and now it is just a generic "P".
Is there something I can do to fix this or is it something that is referenced from the login page that has changed?
I tried it on my iPhone also on iOS 18.3.1 and it displayed a logo. Try these steps:
Swipe Safari away
Long press and delete the bookmark on the home screen
Go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Clear History and Website Data > All history > Close All tabs > Clear History
That last one is a bit extreme but it ensures Safari doesn't have any cached icons or paths that are messing things up. It will log you out of everything if you had anything open in Safari, so make sure you're okay with that.
Open Safari and go to http://ip_of_pihole/admin
You'll either get the Dashboard or the login screen, depending on whether you have a password set.
Tap the square with the arrow pointing up icon, middle of the bottom toolbar. There's an option on here for Add to Home Screen but, before you use it, what do you see for the icon? It should be showing correctly already. If so then adding to the Home Screen will use it.
There's a screenshot of mine after doing the above. I've highlighted the part to pay attention to. Did that work for you?
Mine looks like that too. Until i scroll down and hit the "add to home screen". Then it is blank and ultimately an icon with a "P" in it on my home screen.
I can only imagine it has something to do with that theme you have. What is that and how have you got it? I don't recognise it. On mine when I go to the Add part, the icon shows there too.
I just spotted that the bookmark without the logo is for the https site (edit - you did mention that, I didn't realise it may be relevant). I was testing using the http site, which would also match the V5 bookmark.
What happens if you delete it and redo as http, or just remove the http:// from the address entirely (eg 10.10.1.8/admin)? I suspect this might give you back the icon as it would match how V5 worked. You would lose the https encryption but if this is on your home network does that matter?
Its not a big deal. one way i don't get a pretty icon, and the other way i get a warning message. I know it is local and does not have huge implications, I just wanted both. Thanks for all your help.
