Installing pihole kills the internet on my Raspberry Pi

That's the pic from https://pi-hole.net/ main page but that's how I had set up my router.

I currently don't have Pihole on any machines thus the new router is not configured to use Pihole.

Ready to install Pihole when you say so.

@Bucking_Horn My actual router. These settings are NOT ACTIVE but this is what I did originally, with my old router.

Out of interest what upstream DNS do you configure for Pi-hole itself? If it's something from the list, like Google or Cloudflare, then it doesn't matter. If it's a custom IP and was the DNS of your previous ISP, that probably won't work now that you're a Bell customer.

Your resolv.conf is using the Pi-hole itself and a Bell DNS server for DNS, but you mention you can't even ping 1.1.1.1 so the Pi-hole upstream is likely not relevant, but I thought it worth mentioning in case someone else finds this discussion in future with related symptoms after changing their ISP. Someone might change their ISP and not change the old ISP's DNS in their Pi-hole if they were using it.

I'm not sure if some sort of OS-enabled under-the-hood reverse-IP antics take place even when pinging an IP, and if the Pi-hole DNS upstream was an old ISP it might be timing out, so a very slim chance it could still be relevant here if all the cards are landing just right.

I can't know for sure, as every router, model and firmware is different:
On that screenshot, that 'Obtain DNS information automatically' option would suggest that screen is about configuring your router's upstream DNS resolvers.

By pointing your RPi Zero 2 to static domain_name_servers=192.168.2.1, you'd have prepared the preconditions for a DNS loop for your Zero 2.

If your Pi-hole would be configured to use your router as its upstream, or if you'd had Pi-hole's Conditional Forwarding enabled, then you'd have closed a full or partial DNS loop for all clients in your entire network.

You should investigate your new router's DHCP settings and configure those to distribute solely your Pi-hole host's IP address as local DNS server.

I get your point @Bucking_Horn

Unfortunately, this issue pertains to my router/modem. For example, I just re-imaged my microSD card with RPIOS64Lite. SSHed into the device, and guess what, no internet. No changes have been to the router's settings, either.

I may try running Pihole in docker at some point, however, at this point, given the router, this situation is hopeless.

Appreciate @chrislph and your input.
