This is a Debian base inside a FreeBSD Jail.
A FreeBSD Machine/VM is a whole different story... And I'll for sure test that in a FreeBSD Jail too which might lead to fixing the issue of the Debian Jail 
Any news regarding a "FreeBSD build" ?
As already stated: I'm willing to supply test VMs running FreeBSD or OPNsense 
Once that works we can always come back and look into running inside a Jail 
I read DL6ER's posts as shared memory support being a hard requirement for pihole-FTL.
Did you succeed in finding a way to enable that in the meantime?
I think we've got a hard missunderstanding going on: Let me state it one more time> let's not waste more time with a jail try it in a FreeBSD VM!

I read this as you were going to test those enumerated environments for shared memory support and report back your findings?
However, your last reply reads as if you were waiting for us to report on FreeBSD, yet us guys never said "let's push the FreeBSD build" - the answer to that remark was:
So pihole-FTL requires shared memory support by the OS, regardless if its a FreeBSD VM or a Debian jail.
