I guess my other question is why is there a warning to not do this, If it is ok because Im not FWDing port 53?
I've highlighted the relevant part of the setting's description to hopefully make it clearer.
In a typical at-home setup where your Pi-hole is located within your local network (and you have not forwarded port 53 in your router!) they are safe to use.
The same happened to me and I commented it here: Smart radio not working following Pi-hole v6 upgrade - #6 by 0X0
It's saying my home network subnet is non-local, but I guess it's because the client is two hops away? Client - router - SBC running pi-hole directly with automated installer (non-docker setup). Worth looking into if more people are having issues I guess
I'll do that, thanks
