Hi,
i know this is not a direct issue report, but before everyone goes crazy, apparently there are some issues when you try to update pihole and when it tries to authenticate to the github:
Initial pihole report:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pihole/s/QcZSDceqcn
First i thought its his local host the issue, but now i found threads from other applications reporting the same:
https://forums.truenas.com/t/truenas-apps-catalog-fails-to-sync-git-http-2-returns-401-http-1-1-works
Now there are some workarounds to "fix" it, it may also be temporary, but this thread could be used to track and see what happens.
If not, feel free to close it
Thanks
Furkan
yeah ive been seeing the same github auth prompts pop up in a few places today, not just pihole. trueNAS apps sync and openhabian-config both started asking for a github username out of nowhere.
in my experience when a bunch of unrelated tools all start failing git clone/fetch against github at once, its usually github being weird on their end (http/2 / auth challenge) rather than your pihole install. waiting it out or retrying later has fixed it for me before. if an update is stuck mid-prompt, ctrl-c and try again in a bit is probably safer than stuffing random creds in.
