It looks like the 5G was added to the volume group and not to /boot
, that will need to fixed before we can progress further.
You'll need to add the storage to /dev/sda1
span up up a fresh 18.04.1 ubuntu and starting again,
ran update and upgrade, restarted server,

what im i doing wrong now?!
Try apt-get --yes --no-install-recommends install dialog dhcpcd5
and see why those packages are not installing.
I am working through the upgrade problems from 3.3 to 4.0 and most of this thread matches what I am seeing.

To solve this problem for me:
sudo mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf.bac1
sudo vi /etc/resolv.conf
enter "nameserver 8.8.8.8" <-- prior to doing this I believe that the process was failing on DNS lookups (ironically)
sudo service networking restart
pihole -r
.
.
.
Update Complete!
Current Pi-hole version is v4.0
Current AdminLTE version is v4.0
Current FTL version is v4.0
pihole -up

sudo mv /etc/resolv.conf.bac1 /etc/resolv.conf

After a couple of reboots, things appear to still be working for me.
I hope that this helps.
@Sean_Koors What is the full output of sudo apt-get update
? You shared the output of sudo apt-get upgrade

You have errors in your sudo apt-get update

Is where it gets down to after running "sudo bash -x /etc/.pihole/automated\ install/basic-install.sh" that I found earlier in this thread. I have a similar error from another post and found this one.
I believe that most have troubles with their distro's software repositories.
If you run sudo apt-get update
, the repos causing troubles like 404 errors are indicated.
To have Pi-hole successfully installed you need to fix those errors first.
These repos usually are defined in below APT config files:
pi@noads:~ $ grep -v '#\|^$' -R /etc/apt/sources.list*
/etc/apt/sources.list:deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list:deb http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ jessie main ui
removing this repository and running apt-get update/upgrade and pihole -r worked for me (freshlight).
Thanks!
apt-get update / upgrade completed flawlessly. Still can't get FTL. pihole -r didn't fix it either.
Tried uninstalling pihole and reinstalling... still tries to get FTL and fails to retrieve it.
Will follow this thread.
try the following steps
- run
pihole -d
for a debug token sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf
- change
127.0.0.1
to9.9.9.9
- Save the file
- run
pihole -r
if this process doesnt work please run another debug using pihole -d
Thanks technicalpyro! Worked like a charm!
Happy to help
