DNS stops working

Expected Behaviour:

For some time, I have stopped using pihole, since it always becomes slow - and after 24 hours at work, no pages can load.

I tried activating other DNS providers, since I read about someone with the same periodic errors, but no luck.

Using pihole makes queriying dns, very slow. After some time, only a few pages can load. Everything else crawls to a halt.

But from time to time, I miss the pi hole and activate it. And everytime i do, after 12-24 hours it stops working.
Then I remove it as dns, and everything works.

So is there anything i can do other than reinstall?
