DNS for inactive static DHCP leases?

So I've been using the pi-hole DHCP server for years now to manage DHCP for all my clients. I'm in the process of renumbering and I'm wondering the following:

Is there a way for Pi-hole to create DNS records for static DHCP leases that aren't currently active?

In the scenario of an active lease, the hostname in the static lease works as the DNS record, but when the lease is inactive it doesn't. Meaning realistically, you have to manually add the hostname + IP to the Local DNS with the same settings as the DHCP Lease.

Is there a way around this?
